In the wake of the victory of the Congress-JD(S) alliance in Karnataka, supporters of the Congress party in Bengal took to the streets in celebration.
The mood was festive as sweets were exchanged and victory processions were taken out in various parts of the state. The supporters claimed that Karnataka's election results reflected the country's disillusionment with the ruling party's failures on various fronts such as corruption, inflation, unemployment, communalism, health, and education.
Congress leaders, including Darjeeling District Congress President Shankar Malakar, expressed their confidence that Rahul Gandhi would become the Prime Minister of India in the coming days.
